Exercise

Khazar-khum has suggested an exercise in which we create book covers. I'm expanding the idea to include movie posters. Or even trailers. This could take longer than usual, so I'm announcing it early. The deadline it Saturday night at 10 PM eastern.

Create a book cover or movie poster for a title involving Evil Editor or writing. Preferably humorous. Any genre is okay. If you don't have Paint or one of the better graphics editors, you can either do a book cover that has no artwork, or send me your idea and I'll try to produce it. Do more than one if you wish.

Good idea.

I'm taking this one off, and watching you guys - as both my art and computer skills suck so, so very much.

Sounds good, though - seeing what you all come up with will be really fun!

I was talking to one of the poll workers today when a woman in her early 30's came out of the polling place holding her daughter (I guess about 3 or 4 y/o) and asked to have her picture taken because she wanted to remember the day when her and her daughter voted for the first woman for president.

It was so cute. Brought a smile to my cynical face.

Sadly, I'll be with Robin on the sidelines on this one (or perhaps under the bleachers). My art skills are probably the only thing worse than my writing skills.

Apparently you guys aren't too impressed with my art skills, or you'd have me draw up your ideas.

The sad truth is that, in fact, we have no ideas.

Hmmm, that sounds like a challenge if I ever heard one.

We were discussing book covers on my blog a while back. Its' fun to fantasize about what we would like if we had a choice.

All right, I'm game.

I can draw decently in pencil/charcoal and paper, but I am technically challenged, so it's all in your court, EE.

How should we send them to you? I feel like a twelve-year-old all over again, drawing lame pictures on Paint. Awesome.

Evil Editor said...

I'm not sure how that works. Can you save it as a jpeg and email it as an attachment? If that doesn't work, you may have to post it and let me come make a copy off your blog.

Kiersten White said...

I can do either; which works better for you?

Evil Editor said...

Send the attachment. Thanks.

Oh goodness, why couldn't I have discovered your blog earlier? I've been reading the archives (post-migraine buzz, no sleeping or coherent writing tonight) and if I wasn't already, I'm officially your new biggest fan. All of these years I've wasted not knowing about EE. It makes me want to cry. Or maybe that's the migraine again.

Now you have months of catching up to do, while other minions sit around bored. They're all jealous.

I was planning on being out of town this weekend, but when Real Life grabs you, you're stuck at home with sick people. Now it looks like I have to actually Produce!

OK OK - I'll do it. But I need help- no- not THAT kind. Help with art.

Do I just send you my title and my, um, concept?

Just remember...you offered.

Evil Editor said...

Yes, but don't expect anything more elaborate than the sample here.

Robin S. said...

I wasn't talking about elaboration. I was talking about content and title, sir.

I'll rustle something up and see what happens. This sounds like fun.

That's all I need, an excuse to fiddle around, learning Photoshop. I've been putting it off, but I have that nifty digital tablet I can play with...

How big a jpg file??

Evil Editor said...

I know nothing about file size, but don't take up all my memory.

Hey, stopping by here in the after-party glow and I also hope to get something graphic together. Have I mentioned lately what a cool blog this is?
