It's a temporary lull. Some of us are counting our rejections and pondering the rewrite-vs-new-project question, while others have Crapometer Fever. Plus the school set have finals and the parents have holiday preparations.
Lots of us feel this way around the holidays, EE. Others get too busy to give us a thought. Days are long, nights are even longer... Thankfully, it does pass.
Ah, the Crapometer. Of course, those who want Miss Snark to read their first pages need to hook her first. And what better way to improve your hook than to run it past the Evil Minions?
Besides, once the swelling from my first lambasting goes down, I'm contemplating running my (new! revised! exciting!) query letter past you. If we're permitted reruns, that is. ;-)
Anyhow, it will be awhile, as I'm busy pounding the English language into submission, but .. Ah'll be bahhhck. :-D
I received my copies of Novel Deviations and already wrapped three of them to give as gifts. What a great idea, it's cheap and personal at once. Great idea, good book!
Maybe try something else? To be honest, I only read this right now for the Face Lifts... but I'd love to see some more improving-your-writing related material.
We were thinking of doing a query/synopsis for current work in progress, this being a good way to a/v/o/i/d/ /a/c/tu/a/l/l/y/ /w/o/r/k/i/n/g/ /o/n/ /i/t/ work out the focus, but right now we're too hot & tired to write anything much.
You're most certainly not unwanted, EE. This is the first site I check every day, after my email. I just haven't quite gotten up the spine to send in my query letter yet, because I know it's going to be beaten to a pulp, and it's being revised right now anyway. But when it's done, I promise I'll send it to you. In fact I'll put it higher on the list of "things that need to be done" (which is currently about twenty nautical miles long).
Please stick around. I'm still writing my first draft. Then it's revision time, followed by beta readers, followed by more revisions...
But I'm determined to see this through to the end and I fully intend to run my eventual query letter past you for immolation, so please don't give up in the meanwhile.
I used to take my Brother's four kids, a dog, my Aunt and my Mother on vacation. They did everything while I sat under a tree reading a book and listening to classical music. Some of my friends don't understand why I like to vacation in the local bookstore or library.
Bit the bullet, it's in your e-mail. (Gasp, shudder, shiver, it's harder sending out queries than it was to write the novel and edit it!) (Verification looks like a Red Russian: bokhvii)

Awww...you look so pitiful in that picture, Mr. Evil! Quick! We need two bottles of scotch and a handful of terrible queries, STAT!
I'll bet it's because Miss Snark's Crap-o-meter is coming soon.

And we still love you.
People are probably saving them for Miss Snark's Crapometer.
By the sound of it most of them are still writing them and tying themselves in knots in the process. :)
Poor baby. I only have so many books on the go...
Shall we give a shout out to Miss Snark?
Say it ain't so...
Perhaps everyone's off sharpening hooks for Miss Snark's event next weekend?
Don't worry: they'll be back...

Oh, now, don't feel unloved! ;-)

Fun too.

Done. It's in your mailbox. In query letter form.
Sentence fragments. Me. The queen of.

Aaw...EE...we love and adore you. I think things are slow everywhere because of the holidays.
I have to get at least the first draft of the WIP done before I can begin the query, lol. My head isn't yet that swollen.
This too shall pass, EE.

I want you, EE. Just not to critique my query, if you get my drift.

Gee, I submit my query, and the EE's blog implodes. Can I put that on my bio?
Have you never heard of vacation?
If you had any idea all the stuff that happened on my last vacation, you wouldn't bring that subject up.
I used to take my Brother's four kids, a dog, my Aunt and my Mother on vacation. They did everything while I sat under a tree reading a book and listening to classical music. Some of my friends don't understand why I like to vacation in the local bookstore or library.
:)
I still love you. Even though you make me nervous.
Where are you lot with the vacations starting this week? Slackers!
I'm with kiss-me-at-the-gate. Email first, EE, then national and local news...then some writing...sometimes.
I sent in mine and am attempting to write some guess the plots. Do we still post them to the comment section following the list of titles?
Yes, following the list of titles in "Guess the Plot."
Why would anyone want to suject themselves to every idots comments? That is why there are no query letters!
You people don't know how to give constructive comments. You are childish and cruel with your comments. GROW UP!!
