Success Story

Steve Prosapio reports that his novel GHOSTS OF ROSEWOOD ASYLUM (Facelift 679) will be published in June by Otherworld Publishing.

Steve kindly (and justifiably) gives 100% of the credit to us.

Thanks all!!!
:-D

And yes, 100% of the credit goes to us.

With EE composing an inordinate percentage of "us".

oh and PS -- I don't care how famous I get, you guys can always call me "Steve".

On the other hand, if I get rich and famous, I'll insist on being called "Mr. Prosapio."

I hope you negotiated on some of the more bizarre contractual terms, such as not being able to write your next book without their consent.

19. While this Agreement is in effect the Author shall not, without the prior written consent of the Publisher, write, edit, print, or publish any material that competes with the Work.

What the what?

No. That's not in my contract. I wouldn't even need an agent to catch that one. I don't think it is in the original one they sent us and certainly not in the one I signed.

BuffySquirrel said...

Oh, GOOD! Because it's in their sample contract, and I did wonder :).

If they're not actually putting it in the contract, I wonder why they leave it up--it's really off-putting.

I can see where it would be. I'll say something to them. I and my agent found them to be very friendly and easy to work with. They're small, but have experience in publishing and are carving out a nitch in the paranormal/suspense/thriller arena.

Just in case anyone is checking back here, I got this email back from Lynn Calvert the President of Otherworld Publications about the clause that was mentioned:

"ACK! That hasn't been in our contracts for over a year! Thank you for letting me know."

So no worries to anyone as far as that goes...
