Writtenwyrdd suggested that as a writing exercise we visit http://diy.despair.com/motivator.php and create motivational posters. I'm thinking this is the type of thing we should post one of each day, an ongoing exercise. Until the well starts running dry.
Visit the site. Read their sample posters. They're funny. Creating your own is easy, but if you have trouble, let me know. Unlike the samples, all of ours should have something to do with Evil Editor or the writing/publishing professions. I've placed one of each type below.
Use your own photograph or one you have permisssion to use. Or tell me what you want in the photo and I'll find one for you. Don't just take a photo off the web.
I'm posting just the best one I have available each day. That probably means some will never get posted, so make them good. You'll note that one of the options after you see your poster is to edit it, so get it looking good before saving it to your computer (by right-clicking on the finished poster) and then submitting it here.

Let the war on cheesethink commence.
These are the best. I have to print these out for my office. Is that OK?
Help yourself. As you my all have noticed, the web site will print you a nice copy of any of theirs or ours for $12.95.
By the way, he ("he" as in "I can't be arsed to go over there and look up his name") has been doing these for ages over at 101 Reasons to Stop Writing...
At my workplace before I retired, my Division moved onto a new floor and the Division Director put all sorts of "motivational" posters up on the hallway walls between offices.
One of the other Division Directors chided him and tried to have the posters taken down as distractions.
It gave motivation a new name (and we weren't polite, either).

Hmm, I'm now inclined to just make it a regular 1-week writing exercise if someone else is doing it regularly. True, he does one a month and I was thinking one a day, but there's enough activity on this blog already without adding this.
This will be next week's writing exercise, giving you plenty of time to perfect your ideas.
A further look at the site in question reveals there've been no posts of any kind since May. If he's called it quits, we wouldn't be horning in on his feature. Anyone know anything?
I just went and looked. I'd never seen that site before- it depressed me, so that's actually a good thing.
Looks like May was the last post, as you mentioned. So- if four months have passed, in my opinion, there's no horning going on - but still, is there a way to tweak to make it your own?
PS- It's gonna take some work to top that thumbs down.
Yeah, the evidence suggests "he" has followed his own advice -- and quit. Doing it regularly, though, still runs the risk of beign accused of ripping someone else's idea (not that demotivators isn't already ripping the motivators idea...)
My guess would be there'll be a bunch of good ones and then the quality will drop. One a day sounds ambitious. One a week, maybe? Something on a Friday to motivate us through the written weekend?
"Anyone know anything?"
Oh, where to begin...?
The problem with doing it weekly is that I've already received about ten, and no one wants to wait ten weeks to see their poster posted.
Tweaking is possible. The system works on anything, not just demotivation posters. Of course ads have been done to death.
Maybe when we submit a writing exercise we can make a poster illustrating it and giving it a title and blurb.
Well, I think you'd already said this was going to be this week's "writing" exercise, so that'll cover the initial flurry. I guess if good ones continue to come in after that, they should go up as you, sir, feel appropriate!
We could always do sayings on gravestones.
I still vote for feghoots.
Seems like a good candidate for the weekly exercise to me. Sean Lindsay of 101 Reasons has been posting less and less frequently, but I don't think he's tossed in the towel completely yet.
I wouldn't think of a regular demotivator exercise as stealing some other blog's thunder, myself.
