Yeah, I submitted captions for both the cartoon EE mentioned. But I don't know who else did. And if I say which ones were mine here, well then it wouldn't be a surprise...
My husband doesn't understand my obsession with this site, but I think you've got it, Julie.~
They don't. Mine didn't about B&W. He didn't really believe I was exchanging information with "real" writers until I showed him the acknowldegemts page of Diana Gabaldon's Fiery Cross.
EE- I hope you keep some pics for another day. 40 is a lot. I like to say something to people who worked that hard with their idea, even if it's only 'good job'. plus it would be fun to see them through the week.
Yes, EE, please leave up the comments. I thought it was quite interesting to see 200+ comments on a cartoon. Love reading your coversations. It's like watching family movies and laughing along with the familiar antics.
For the record, you can post 100MB of voice/sound on Podbean for free and import a special media player into your blog. Visitors then click a link and voila — sound.
I've tried it and it works. Setting up a Podbean account is as easy as registering with Blogger and setting up the media player is no more technical than cutting and pasting a line of code. Peasy.
All you have to do is avoid strangling yourself with the microphone flex.
Another thought — I agree with Robin that when there's a pile-up of submissions, it's not always possible to comment fully on them all as one might wish.
If there really are 40 ads coming up in Sunday's post, then maybe what we have here is another regular EE feature that can sit alongside the cartoons. It's either that or photos of the fridge magnet animals we've fashioned from our plucked eyebrows and shaved whiskers.
I left up the book chats as well. What I take down are the cartoon workshops because seeing the cartoons would be less fun if you've read the caption discussions.
Interesting reading. I feel like I'm eavesdropping on someone's telephone conversation. Seeing as I'm quite a nosey person I found it quite enjoyable, thanks and happy Mother's Day.
Someone complained about it once. I pointed out that this would make it too easy to guess the right plot, as certain people's names would come up with great frequency.
There's a certain style to in-house GTPs, isn't there? They tend to involve weredingoes, or end with "Also aliens [or other noun of choice]" or "Hilarity ensues".
I thought we could claim our GTPs in the comments if we wanted to? You obviously can't put our names under them on the post itself.

«Oldest ‹Older 201 – 302 of 302I want to meet your weredingos. I always end up hanging with the pets at parties anyway.
It was Lincoln, yes, but you'll never guess what was painted underneath it.
OK- but that's a pleasure/pain conundrum, EE.
When you quit blogging, I'm gonna...well...it won't be pretty.
Stuff like this bothers me:
what if blogger died and we never got to talk again, you all?
Yes, ril, that was endearingly arrogant.
Ok, what was painted underneath it?
Of course, Ril. I don't think I could pull off endearingly arrogant. I'm still trying to figure out what my minion identity should be.
Woo hoo!
I want to meet your weredingos. I always end up hanging with the pets at parties anyway.~
So, for you to come to a party of mine I have to get a pet?
What was underneath it??
It would die only if it weren't profitable. Wait a minute, it takes in money?
Kiersten, I told you we can be petal pals.
Oh don't even joke about that, Robin...when I say you guys are my main source of adult conversation during the week, I'm not kidding.
Maybe that will be my minion identity--pathetically endearing?
"Genuwine Portrait. $25.99"
Hey- how about this - we figure out a city most of us could some to - if it has a Ritz Carlton.
And we have rooms there and a party, and EE can come and pretend to be someone else.
It makes people rich in literary help, EE.
I think endearingly pathetic is better.
So, for you to come to a party of mine I have to get a pet?
In that case, I could just bring my own.
Don't you have horses?
Endearingly pathetic--yeah, I think I can pull that off.
But then again, we are ALL on here on a Saturday night...
Cute, witty, and charming.
Ritz-Carlton? I'd settle for a Motel 6.
Hey- you have little ones -it's not pathetic, Kiertsen. YOu exhibit excellent taste by choosing to be here.
Well, ril - are any of the #100 captions yours? You're really good at sliding past stuff, kid. Which is why i think you and EE are related.
What is EE up to now in the auction?
In that case, I could just bring my own.
Don't you have horses?~
I bought the horses, husband is keeping them in the divorce. I'll get another one when the dust settles.
$18.00
No. We'll get a good deal at the Ritz Carlton. Trust me. And I like them. And EE could come incognito.
ril- would you come?
Ah, was that cute, witty, and charming directed at me? You made my night.
(And now EE feels really awkward because he was talking about something else, but doesn't want to hurt my feelings...)
$3900.
All 4 books for 18.00. Someone's trying to make a killing.
Yeah, I submitted captions for both the cartoon EE mentioned. But I don't know who else did. And if I say which ones were mine here, well then it wouldn't be a surprise...
Kiersten, one thing I learned long ago. Hanging out with writer types makes you feel more like one. It sets it in your mind you can write.
ril- would you come?
I would make every effort to. I might pretend to be EE, though.
Who said you can't write, Kiersten?
I'll chat with them.
I want that model tank they have up for auction.
The winning captions for both were similar in a way.
I'll pretend to be Robin.
Someone said I couldn't write?
I'm confused.
My husband doesn't understand my obsession with this site, but I think you've got it, Julie. I just like the types of people here.
Also, EE is hilarious. And my hero.
Who said you can't write, Kiersten?
I'll chat with them.~
I didn't mean to insinuate that, Robin. It's just when we have doubts about writing, being around writers tends to reinforce me.
Well, ril,
1- it owuld be nice if the caption on #100 wasn't anonymous, don't you think?
2-I'll hold you to that wishy-washy party answer.
EE- would you sneak in?
Can I be Julie then? I would be WO, but I think I make too much sense.
Sounds like me, then.
How about: once it's up on the blog, if it's me I promise I'll own up to it?
Oh, Julie- I thought you all were saying someone ELSE had said something about Kiersten's work. Gotcha now, girl.
So- we have Tokyo, ?Texas, ?Texas, San Diego, Alexandria, and ?? here. Where's the center of that?
My husband doesn't understand my obsession with this site, but I think you've got it, Julie.~
They don't. Mine didn't about B&W. He didn't really believe I was exchanging information with "real" writers until I showed him the acknowldegemts page of Diana Gabaldon's Fiery Cross.
Tahiti
Texas is, of course, the center of everything.
Tahiti? What the heck? Texas sounds good to me.
He just thinks it's weird that no one knows who EE is. But my hubby is great, he actually makes me write even when I don't want to ; )
But I vote for Hawaii. Hey, Pat Wood invited Nathan to hang on her boat. Maybe she'll host all of us, too.
Speaking of, I'm gonna go watch a stupid movie with him.
Have a great night (day) all.
My ex is from West Texas, ladies.
A long lean Nordic West Texan.
I'm good with goin' somewhere else - that or wearing a disguise.
Goodnight, K.
What else does he make you do when you don't want to?
But my hubby is great, he actually makes me write even when I don't want to ; )~
Good man. You better hang on to him.
Night, Kiersten.
Whereabouts in West Texas, Robin? His last name isn't Irontree is it?
'Night, Kiersten!
lol, take better care of myself? He's amazing.
Okay, really leaving now. You guys are too funny.
Pat Wood is funny. I really like her.
EE - I love it when you open up these things.
Good night, Kiertsen!
How about - in the fall - at - what's that island near Miami that's nice - Maybe starts with a K? Damn. I can't remember.
Kuba?
Kuba?
rofl
I really want to meet ril and pump a few drinks in him.
Kuba
One of the Keys, perhaps? That would put us in Blogless territory.
I gotta learn to touch type.
*groan* Kuba.
No. A small town north of Amarillo.
thye grow really big people up there. His dad reminds me A LOT of Tommy Lee Jones in No Country for Old Men. I'm sayin' - a lot.
They have a Norwegian last name that was messed up when they had to move from Georgia in the 1800s for horse thieving or something weird.
See, Ril and EE really ARE the same person!
The guy I am going to take sword fighting lessons from is tall and has this beautiful strawberry blonde hair. Just wanted to make sure it wasn't him.
No- no - not Kuba. Dammit. What is it?
Oh hell. I just checked. Key Biscayne.
...when they had to move from Georgia in the 1800s for horse thieving or something weird.
Ah, was it the great Texas horse thief shortage.
BT is in a Key? Or on?
Teaching people to fight with swords is an odd occupation.
Ah, was it the great Texas horse thief shortage.~
Yep, there was a reason for the GTT slogan.
Teaching people to fight with swords is an odd occupation.
He's actually an armor maker, but he likes to teach people to sword fight.
If I ever need some armor I'll have you put me in touch with him.
Well, BT's in Florida, so anything within a couple of hundred miles is close - relatively. Don't think he's on a Key, though.
Well, EE. You may need armor. It could happen.
If I ever need some armor I'll have you put me in touch with him.~
Awesome.
Did you ever say what was under the Lincoln portrait?
ril revealed it.
genuwine portrait $25.99?
EE- I hope you keep some pics for another day. 40 is a lot. I like to say something to people who worked that hard with their idea, even if it's only 'good job'. plus it would be fun to see them through the week.
Thanks for helping me with mine.
I gotta go to bed now.
Love you guys.
Good night!
I think that's what he was talking about.
Night, Robin.
Nite. Perhaps it's time to knock off.
I think that's what he was talking about.~
Interesting.
Yep, thanks for doing the art work for me and the Paint lesson.
Comment moderation returns shortly. Good night all.
Sorry, just had to go make a submission to the porcelain publisher.
Yes, that's what I was talking about...
Good night all! Time for me to take the family out.
*yawn* yes, I'm about to follow Rob's lead. Thanks for hosting, EE. G'nite, y'all. See you in the funny blogs!
Yes, EE, please leave up the comments. I thought it was quite interesting to see 200+ comments on a cartoon. Love reading your coversations. It's like watching family movies and laughing along with the familiar antics.
Robin - hope DH feels better soon!

And Kiersten thinks I don't talk sense!
Damn! I wish I was awake at the same time as everyone else.
Did my earlier comment get lost?
Hey, EE - you left it up - thanks for doing that!
I think what Sarah said says it all - reading it's like watching family movies.
WO- cool idea about the sound.
Hi Gina - Happy Sunday.
I left up the book chats as well. What I take down are the cartoon workshops because seeing the cartoons would be less fun if you've read the caption discussions.

GTP authors don't get credit. Does anyone complain about that?
Just askin' :).
Someone complained about it once. I pointed out that this would make it too easy to guess the right plot, as certain people's names would come up with great frequency.

Hey — in this madcap world of ours, this is one of the few places where there actually is a plot...
