Success Story

David Hewitt reports the self-e-publication of his YA novel Humanity. His original query was in Face-Lift 1254. The Kindle version is available at Amazon, along with the first 2+ chapters and a preface in which he thanks numerous people for their help . . . but not us!

Congratulations.

I guess to thank the dark forces at work in writing a book would be too revealing. He's probably one of those naturals that didn't REALLY need any evil editing anyway.

Perhaps it's just a bit more complicated than he had room to explain. He does have direct and indirect family members. Maybe Evil Editor and his minions are lumped between the lines in the indirect category. That might explain the silence.

OMG, I can't believe I left you guys off. I'm so sorry. I'm scum and more evil than EE.

Thanks for your guys input.

One more thing, I didn't really expect EE to say anything. After all, I am self-publishing. So, I didn't know if you great people wanted to be associated with a work that I couldn't sell.

I should have included you anyway. You gave great feedback on the query and I put a few of the changes into the finished product.

Thanks again

NO ONE is more than Evil Editor. May your thoughts be as egregious as your story. Shame on you. Change what you can while you can!

My story is terrible? I think I'll go cry now, lol. Sorry you feel that way. Have a good day.

Unless you meant my claim about EE... If you meant my novel, I'm sorry. If you meant my claim to being more evil, well...I'll take it under consideration.

dhewco, I was joking about your claim of being more evil than EE. Sorry about any misunderstanding. Didn't read your novel, but now I need to. At least the free chapters. Sorry!

It's okay. I'm a little sensitive right now...sorry. If you read the description and decide it's not for you...that's cool. It's a scifi peter pan based drama. I've gotten several purchases and no one's reviewed. So, either Amazon won't let them because they think they're just friends...or my buyers don't care enough to comment.

Of course, it's probably just me being sensitive. I have to absolutely love or hate something to comment on it. They could all be somewhere in between that.

Did I mention I was sensitive? LOLOL

I'd imagine the percentage of purchasers who actually review is generally very small. I'd actually be interested to know if there are statistics about that.

dhewco, I like sci-fi and Peter Pan. I've never done a book review. I'll get back to you. It might take a while. I"ve got about ten books going right now. Including my own, which is not finished. In other words, I'm insane. Good luck, and that is not joking.

I appreciate any efforts on my behalf. However, don't feel you have to do anything. Take care of yourself and if you have a free second, 'look inside'.

I ask that you don't just say 'I hated it'. LOL, I'm not saying you would but it's something I'm afraid of. I can't do anything with it and thus I can't change.

Again, only do anything if you get your other works done and only if you feel like it.

I would do a better synopsis of the work, but I suck at those. Probably helped me fail to sell this to an agent or trade publisher. I managed to get Kristin Nelson to read some of it...but she passed with a form. I probably wasn't ready to send it out at the time. I know I made a lot of changes since that time.

Anyway, thanks JSF.

I think one of the reasons I got a little touchy is that even though I told myself for months that I shouldn't expect more than five or so sales (about the number of friends and acquaintances I could trust to not be lying when they said they'd buy)...I still feel disappointed at 6 so far. If I was truly convinced I wouldn't sell more, why am I feeling low at the numbers for the first two days?

Thanks again minions.

You're disappointed because any author who puts their book out there is going to be disappointed with 6 sales. Don't feel bad about feeling bad.
