Proud Father

  1. Please tell me this is a serious picture. Please!

If so, many congrats to EE, Jr. and his proud Dad.

  2. Now this one really brought a smile to my face -- no kidding! Congratulations.

    ReplyDelete
  3. That's really cool, man. But I'm only 99% convinced. It isn't like EE to reveal a photo with so much information.

    But congrats, just in case.

  4. Oh, Good Lord.

It just occurred to me what all this means. You really aren't who I thought you were - and that changes oh, so much about the liberties I've been taking with your cartoon-ified self. Holy crap.

Please tell me your son doesn't read this blog. Was that really his art on the ad?

I'm gonna have to get me to a nunnery - or otherwise clean up my act - and fast.

  5. Hey, cool it, Robin. You're making one huge, huge assumption here -- that the one on the right is Evil Editor...

    ReplyDelete
  6. That was his art. I doubt he reads the blog with much frequency, and certainly not the comments. He's 22with a great sense of humor, so I think he could handle whatever you're worried about. And whattaya mean I'm not who you thought. Who did you think I was this time?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Ya gotta be kidding me! Really? Congratulations!

You look too young to be an editor...

  8. I'm gonna have to get me to a nunnery - or otherwise clean up my act - and fast.~

    Ha ha ha ha...breathes...ha ha

    Sorry, Robin. That is priceless.

Sister Agatha has been wanting to talk to you.

  9. I have a 19 year old daughter who kicks ass in animation. Maybe they should hook up LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  10. OMG! You know what this means? Sonny boy can no longer be claimed as a dependent. No more free rides, EE. Unless he's heading for his doctorate...

    Congrats to you both!

    ReplyDelete
  11. You look too young to be an editor...~

I was thinking the very same thing. Going to college, editor, evil editor, what a guy!

    ReplyDelete
  12. Hey chumplet- I have a 20 year old
daughter studying graphic design and illustration. Looks like we've got a boatload of good artists around here, including you , my dear(except for me - my girls tell me that even my stick figures are disproportionate).

Anyway, EE. I'm talking about the last person I thought you were. The last one on the list. That's why I thought you wouldn't mind if I messed around with you on here. I thought you'd think it was funny.

So- what degree did that cute little Sparky, Junior earn himself?

    ReplyDelete
  13. Well, well, well. If the son got any genes at all from his father, EE must be at least somewhat good-looking!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Congrats to EE JR! Robin's presently too rattled to notice, but I think the tassle is covering up the nipple ring!!!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Hey, your son is a good looking kid.
Congrats to him (for graduating.) Though I guess, congrats for being cute too.

    ReplyDelete
  16. It's a good photo. In fact a great photo.
BTW - We can see the iron fence surround the facility in the background.
    ;)

    ReplyDelete
  17. He has a BS. Of course I take full credit for teaching him to BS.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Argh...blogger ate my comment. Sorry if this is a repeat--

I love your son's glasses. What a cutie. And a BS, which means he didn't study English...interesting...

Also, your shirt/shoulder are very cute as well.

I hope you had a great weekend with your son, congrats!

    ReplyDelete
  19. How lovely. Congratulations to the graduate and yourself.

Even lovelier. You've managed to scare the crap out of Robin. Succeeding where many men have failed.

    ReplyDelete
  20. So I finally have to give up my dream of EE being a hot woman from Argentina.
Congrats to you both! You will have a lot more money now that the college bill is done.

    ReplyDelete
  21. *In the voice of my deceased old Aunt Ollie* This is just winnerfer (her pronunciation of "wonderful"). Congrajadation, EE

    ReplyDelete
  22. This is funny — and good news too. Congratulations to both.

As for we minions — now all we need is a fortune teller who can read necks.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Congratulations to parent and child.

    ReplyDelete
  24. So...it wasn't BEA or WisCon. lol

That'll teach me to assume EE has no life outside the blog. I mean work. Yes, work.

    Congrats!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I've been away so much, I didn't know what to think of the post at first. (I have no idea what the running bit with the squirrels is about.) Now that it is all revealed: congrats! The guy behind the funny hat is about 40 pounds too light to be EE, though.

    -Bill H.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Congratulations to EE Jr and to you too EE.

I'm a bit puzzled here, though. I would have thought that showing your son's face would blow your deep cover. Are you going to have to go on an editor relocation program now?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Hey! We've all missed a bigger point: This post's photo is evidence that there likely is a Mrs. EE—or that there was, at some point.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Okay, so we know exactly four 'real' facts about EE now: he's a father of a son who's 22, and he's an editor.

Hey...you know what that means? You might not be too young for me after all, EE! Heh.

Seriously, congrats to you and the graduate. Who's head did you photoshop onto that body?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Seriously...that's not your son in the picture, is it? I assumed not, so you could remain anonymous from those of us with the urge to stalk, er, sleuth.

    ReplyDelete
  30. A Mrs. EE?

Oh god. I actually hadn't pictured that.

    Robin

    ReplyDelete
  31. Hey...you know what that means? You might not be too young for me after all, EE! Heh.~

Well, he's still too young for me and I have lost interest anyway. Even with the disguise, the muttonchops should have shown a bit. The muttonchops are what had me all hot and, er, intellectually intrigued.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Many, many congrats to EE, Jr!!!! And thanks so much for sharing one of your more revealing pics! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  33. What I'm wondering is if EE Jr is taller than Dad, or standing on a box.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Congratulations EE!!!!

    Warm hugs!

Is that a castle in the background? Or a church? Or Oxford? I just finished reading "Pillars of the Earth," so I'm admiring the stonework.

    (Robin, drinks are on me!)
    :-)

    ReplyDelete
  35. EE is a daddy????

    I mean, who knew?

Congratulations to you and your son!

~Beth, who will be graduating three young 'uns next year

    ReplyDelete
  36. Oh man, I do want to make a sexy joke about the lad. But it's just not right. Not right at all.
    ;*)

    ReplyDelete
  37. Of course you mean:

    ReplyDelete
  38. Why is the top of the mortarboard so bare? Where is the ad copy for Novel Deviations?

    ReplyDelete
  39. *makes with the shifty eyes* EE's probably got a kid, but that's not him.

I mean, look at the collar of that blue shirt! Half of it is missing! That head is *not* original to the picture. So it probably isn't EE Jr shown.

EE is too clever to give us a photo that might lead minions to his door...

    ReplyDelete
  40. Congratulations, EE Jr.!

Nice one, EE. Loved the elements of this piece. And it sure got the minions talking.

More money? What about Evilette? She in college?

Robin - With the divorce rate being what it is, you still have a shot.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I don't know, WW, I think he's real.

The missing collar is just a glare from the sun bleaching the color out in the picture.

Besides, it's well known that proud parents have a compulsive need to show of their kids, and if you had a 22 year old son who is that cute and just got a degree, I don't think you'd be able to resist a little photo bragging, either.

    ReplyDelete
  42. "Bachelor of science" implies science. Is it perhaps science science?

Like Chem Engineering or some other degree (sorry to be such a nerd and snob).

I always hope for new scientists.

    ReplyDelete
  43. "The missing collar is just a glare from the sun bleaching the color out in the picture."

Blow it to 400% or 800% and you can see it isn't glare. It's 'shopped.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Many congrats to him and you for leading him this far.

But now I totally know who you are. That brown shirt was a dead giveaway.

    ReplyDelete
  45. No, not real science. Computer science.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Computer science is awesome. My dad's a programmer. I can't listen to him describe in detail what he does without my brain turning all fuzzy, but it's great. And marketable.

And WW, come on, where would he get that picture? First of all, EE Junior has cap hair. Where would he find a picture of a cute 22 year old kid with cap hair? And then photoshop it onto a body in a graduation gown? And make the perspective right?

Just accept that EE gave us a fun glimpse into his personal life and be grateful ; )

    ReplyDelete
  47. Congrats to EE, Jr. and EE, Sr!!

    ReplyDelete
  48. That was a pretty good clue there. The graduate DOES have hathead, leading me to believe that the head really does belong to the body it's resting on.

I wonder if the Down syndrome detective would have picked that clue up.

    ReplyDelete
  49. ~Beth, who will be graduating three young 'uns next year~

Really? My stars, I didn't think you were old enough to have them graduating. How did you manage to graduate three in one year?

I miss your input around here. Know your busy, but I always enjoy watching you work.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Ugh, should be "you're" I'm not totally illiterate.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Computer science is "mind" science. The four engineerings - Chemical, Civil, Mechanical and Electrical - are hands-on physical science. I always tell people that I'm a high-class plumber. I like pipes, valves, pumps and reactions.

Advanced physics, mathematics, computer science and stuff like that are "mind" science. The majority of the work is in the mind.

When I went to school (YES, speech had already replaced sign language) there were no degrees in Computer Science, it was MATH with computer options and the machines were big as buildings. Now it's all networks, information processing, and ideas. And above all, it crosses all subjects - hard and soft science to fluffy, silly information. That's respectable work. think about the data analysis and information handling involved on the Phoenix project that just landed on Mars. There are computer people involved in every step.

When you think about what is spectacular in a field, I knew the first Chemist (BS with honors) to go to Johns Hopkins Medical.
The kid was a genius, a brilliant mind headed to explain the human body in chemical reactions. I still dream of growing up to be that good.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'm not sure why I find that brown shirt intriguing, but I do.

    Jr's smile is wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I don't think it is shopped, wryd. The lack of pixelation is due to the lack of colour and contrast in the white areas.

    ReplyDelete
  54. This picture reminds me of Wilson on Home Improvement.

    ReplyDelete
  55. OK, I gotta say. I love that brown shirt. I really do.

I'm gonna be good - but I have bene thinking about that brown shirt.

Also - you said you'd take pictureS. PictureS. Plural, as in, more than one.

Isn't it time for the next photo, please? I' mean, I've been EE-deprived all day- except for a quickie early on.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Awwww, EE, how sweet! Wish I could see that smile on your face, though.

    ReplyDelete
  57. OK, I gotta say. I love that brown shirt. I really do.

I'm gonna be good - but I have bene thinking about that brown shirt.~

Mmmm, yes nice shirt. I have to admit there is less competition in the harem tonight, though. Laughingwolf has discovered the way to my heart. Now, if he has a brown shirt, life will, indeed, be perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  58. ~except for a quickie early on~

Coming from Robin, that has to be intentional.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Uh. Yeah - Gina. Couldn't help it.
    Wishful thinking.

    Bad Robin. Bad Robin. Bad.

Anon at work and signing in later.

    ReplyDelete
  60. You gals are nuts. But I bet EE would fit that bullfighter costume in my closet. Now there's a thought...

  61. You gals are nuts. But I bet EE would fit that bullfighter costume in my closet. Now there's a thought...~

    I'm thinking kilt.

    ReplyDelete
  62. EE...half-naked...in a kilt.....

    Bring on the black-footed ferrets!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Is it me or is it getting hot in here?

    ReplyDelete
  64. I can send a kilt. Which tartan?

    - Yank in Scotland

    ReplyDelete
  65. Whichever tartan it is - make it a flimsy fabric, please. So light shines through.

    Anon at work

    ReplyDelete
  66. I really hope that EE is right and Junior doesn't visit the site very often. I can just see him reading this comment string, smiling at the congratulations and the comments about how cute he is, but the smile slowly fading as he gets down toward the bottom. At this point he sighs, shakes his head, and says, "Yuck. That's my DAD they're talking about," and turns off the computer to go take a shower because he feels dirty.

On the other hand, I'm sure EE's enjoying the comments.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Anon at work - I must sadly, TRAGICALLY inform you that many Scottish men fail to 'go commando' under the kilt, so a flimsy fabric would only reveal Marks and Spencer boxer shorts (or whatever equivalent EE wears).

Anyway, it doesn't actually need to be light fabric; if a man is spinning energetically enough at a ceilidh [traditional dancing], the kilt may well fly up and leave nothing to the imagination.

(Although a lack of imagination is certainly not a problem in *this* blog readership.)

    - Yank in Scotland

    ReplyDelete
  68. Congrats yo. Is he following in his old man's evil footsteps?

I can't tell how tall he is from the pic, but your son looks a lot like Stephen Merchant:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stephen_Merchant

Should see if you can get him to con his way into getting some facetime with Ricky Gervais.

    ReplyDelete
  69. http://tinyurl.com/48w66c

I have dreams of becoming an official kilt inspector one day.

    ReplyDelete
  70. And yet- EE said he went commando on his anniversary blog - so...

By the way, I TRULY hope you weren't teasin', EE, about that cute little boy of yours not reading the comments. Truly.

    ReplyDelete
  71. (Although a lack of imagination is certainly not a problem in *this* blog readership.)~

We are writers, after all. What is a writer without an active imagination?

    ReplyDelete
  72. You need to sticky this picture. Justifiable pride.
