Chris Eldin was a regular and enthusiastic visitor to this blog from 2007 to 2010, submitting queries, openings, continuations, writing exercises, and commenting on almost everything. Originally she called herself Church Lady, and after that Takoda, and later went as Chris Eldin. Four examples of her work were published in Novel Deviations, vol. 3. I'll try to put together a retrospective of her early blog contributions; more recently the synopsis of her book The Magic Gameboard was repeated here.

Chris was a sweetheart. A good person. A wonderful writer. She touched a lot of our lives with her open attitude, her humor, and her warmth.
I'm sorry to hear that. I think she must've stopped participating right around the time I found your blog.
It's unfortunate that depression and writing so often seem to go hand in hand.
Oh dear. I remember that query. Thanks for passing along the news.
This is terribly sad. She will be much missed.
Thank you for this and the gathering of her contributions here, EE.
It's all so heartbreaking. Thank you for announcing the sad news and for giving us an opportunity to remember her spirit.
I've been holding back the tears until I came here. EE, you always had the capacity to make me cry. You've done it again.
Thank you, EE. For bringing us all together; for sharing your words, your wit, your warmth; for everything.
Chris, Takoda, Church lady, rhinothongbutt will be greatly missed.
Chris was funny and witty and warm and gracious. I never knew her in person, and it breaks my heart that I never will.
I continue to be crushed by this today as so many of her friends post about it. There was so much about her I admired. Thank you for bringing a community together, EE, and for posting this.
I feel sad for the driver of the car as well.
oh no :(
Depression--all mental illnesses--are horrendously cruel diseases. They rob us, taunting us with images of what we lost, while dangling hope just out of reach.
RIP Chris.
This is so sad. Poor Chris.
She was obviously a bright and beautiful woman. Very sad. Wish I could have helped her somehow.
To paraphrase Donne, one person's death lessens us all. Very sad stuff.
Suicide is never the answer, people. Seek help.
So sad. I enjoyed her contributions to several sites I frequent. I don't even know what else to say except that my prayers go out to her family and friends in hope that they understand how much joy she gave to many of us who never met her.
This is tragic.
Thanks EE.
I missed her when she cut herself off from us; I miss her even more now.
